Prepaid roaming

You can use a prepaid number and stay in touch with your family, friends and business partners when you are on vacation or business trip abroad. Prepaid roaming is roaming without contract and deposit, and enables you to have complete control over your costs, in a way that you can top up your prepaid account in accordance with your needs. Of course, there are all basic services available to you: making and receiving calls, sending and receiving SMS. An additional benefit is the fact that with the help of CAMEL technology you can use your number while you are abroad, in the same way you use it when you are in the m:tel network. Prepaid roaming prices depend on the state and the operator which you are using at the moment. 

Organisation of states and operators by zones

  • Zone 0a: mt:s Serbia
  • Zone 0b: m:tel The Republic of Srpska
  • Zona 0c: FYR Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina (Federation), Serbia (VIP, Telenor and Orion)

  • Zone 1: Albania, Croatia, Greece
  • Zone 2 : Europe
  • Zone 3 : the rest of the world


Outgoing calls 

When you are abroad, you can initiate your outgoing calls in two ways - via USSD or CAMEL technology. USSD technology implies that you initiate outgoing calls by typing a short code. To make calls using this technology, it is necessary to type the following: ¬ code *102* ¬ country code (+382 when you dial phone numbers in Montenegro), ¬ network dialing code without zero (68 for m:tel) ¬ phone number you are dialing ¬  (#) and press the call button or OK. For example, to call the m:tel users you need to enter the following code: *102*+38268xxxxxxx#.

When you send the code, you will get the notification whether your request has been accepted and if so, your phone will ring in a few seconds. When you press the button to accept the call, you will hear the typical tone for establishing a connection and only if the called party accepts your call, the connection will be established. When the connection is established the first 30 seconds will be charged immediately, after that we charge per 1 second for calls. Prices (with VAT included) per one minute of calls made this way are shown in the Price List. 


Incoming calls

Receiving calls in roaming is no different from the usual procedure when you are in your home network. The caller does not need to know where you are and he/she calls you as if you were in your home network, except that you bear the part of expenses, too. Prices of incoming calls in roaming (with VAT included) are shown in the Price List.

Roaming prices depend on the state and the operator which you are using at the moment. Organisation of states and operators by zones is the same for all services available to you (outgoing and incoming calls, sending text messages).

For all information about calls, SMS, MMS and GPRS services while in roaming and for additional information, you can call Customer Service at +382 68 1600.


Before you start your journey, m:tel company advises you to call Customer Service at 1600 in order to:

  • check if roaming services are activated
  • check if m:tel has an agreement on commercial roaming with available operators in the country of your destination and which one has the most favorable roaming price
  • check if your mobile phone is compatible with the frequency ranges in the country of your destination
  • write down PIN and PUK codes from your SIM card
  • check if your mobile phone contacts are stored with international prefix (for example: +38268 xxxxxxx for numbers from m:tel network), because that way you can dial them directly from your phonebook


When you get to the destination

When first arriving at your destination country and switch on your mobile phone, it will automatically select  the network of a foreign operator with the strongest signal. If you want to change the network you can do it manually, in the following way: in the Settings menu of your mobile phone you need to find the option for Manual Network Selection and the display will show all available networks. After that you can choose one of the available networks, provided that m:tel has an agreement on commercial roaming with that mobile operator.


Check your balance and top up your prepaid account when you are abroad

Your account can be topped up and the balance can be checked very simply in roaming, by dialing code *100#. The notification of the remaining prepaid credit and card expiration date will appear on the screen of your mobile phone. Regardless of the fact that you are abroad, you can still top up your prepaid account by entering a short code *101*, code from a voucher and #. If you have entered the code from the voucher correctly, the new amount of prepaid credit will appear on the screen of your mobile phone when you press the call button. This procedure is free of charge, no matter in which country you are.


m:roaming Serbia

1. EUR 4.9 – 15-day ticket

2. EUR 11.9 – Prva klasa (First class) ticket until the end of 2017

Roaming in Serbia – In the promotional campaign all users of 068 m:tel network can activate unlimited incoming minutes, outgoing minutes to mobile and fixed network of Telekom Srbija and to mtel networks (068, 060 and 078 m:tel network), unlimited SMS messages with numbers from mt:s and m:tel network (068 and 060 m:tel network), as well as unlimited mobile Internet, while in roaming in Serbia (on mt:s network).

Postpaid roaming

You can use your postpaid number (that you use in Montenegro) in other countries on all continents as well and stay in touch with your family, friends and business partners.Before you start your journey, it is necessary to activate roaming services by submitting a request in some of our retail checkpoints and pay 100 Euros in advance. If you have settled your postpaid accounts from previous three months regularly, roaming services will be activated even without an advance payment. All you have to do is to call our Customer Service at 1600.

M:tel company has provided its postpaid users with simple charging of outgoing calls, SMS and mobile Internet in roaming. Charging is divided by the new roaming zones, so that postpaid users can communicate with family, friends and business partners in a relaxed manner, while on the road.

Instead of searching for individual prices, which vary from network to network and depend on the destination you call, m:tel company now offers you a unique, fixed price of traffic to all destinations, regardless of the network you choose on your journey.

Price of roaming traffic depends solely on the roaming zone (group of countries) in which the user is currently located. Roaming zones can be seen in the Price list.

How to make a phone call when you are in roaming?

When you want to make a phone call from abroad, the phone number you call has to be dialed in the international format.
The country code (+382 for Montenegro), the network dialing code (without the leading zero) and phone number you are calling.

For example:

  • If you want to call a subscriber of mobile network in Montenegro, you need to enter the following: +382,  then the network dialing code without the leading zero (68 for m:tel network) and the phone number of the subscriber
  • If you want to call a landline subscriber in Montenegro, you need to enter the following: +382, then the area code without the leading zero (for example: 20 for Podgorica), and phone number of the subscriber.


How to answer a phone call when you are in roaming?

Receiving calls in roaming is no different from the usual procedure when you are in your home network. The caller does not need to know where you are and he/she calls you as if you were in your home network, except that you bear the part of expenses, too.

If you prefer to correspond via text messages, you are enabled to do so in roaming. Text messages can be sent in the same way as if you were in Montenegro. Receiving text messages is free of charge, and the price of sending text messages from roaming depends on the country in which you are located.

Roaming service enables subscribers of m:tel network to use networks of other operators abroad. The caller does not need to know where you are, all he/she has to do is to dial your mobile phone number in order to reach you. M:tel company has more than 200 roaming partners in over 100 countries worldwide.

Roaming in Slovenia and Kosovo – In the promotional campaign all users of 068 m:tel can activate unlimited outgoing minutes to mobile and fixed network of Telekom Slovenia and IPKO and to mtel networks (068, 060 and 078 m:tel network), unlimited SMS messages with numbers from Telekom Slovenia and IPKO and m:tel network (068 and 060 m:tel network), as well as unlimited mobile Internet, while in roaming in Slovenia (Telekom Slovenia) and Kosovo (IPKO). The offer is valid for all prepaid and postpaid residential 068 users, as well as for business users. 


m:roaming Bosnia and Herzegovina

1. EUR 2.9 – 3-day ticket

2. EUR 4.9 – 15-day ticket

Roaming in Bosnia and Herzegovina – In the promotional campaign all users of 068 m:tel network can activate unlimited outgoing minutes to m:tel networks (068, 060 and 078 m:tel network) as well as unlimited mobile Internet, while in roaming in Bosnia and Herzegovina (on m:tel network). The offer is valid for all prepaid and postpaid residential 068 users, as well as for business users.


Additional information

  • All offers are valid from the moment of activation; for m:roaming 15-day offer: valid until the end of the day and for 15 whole days; for the First class ticket, the offer is also valid from the moment of activation until the end of 2017;
  • Users can activate the options multiple times, thereby extending the validity of duration of benefits from the moment of the last activation, i.e. the previous activation is cancelled by the last activated option.
  • Prepaid users can utilize the benefits from m:roaming option, under the condition that they must have a minimum credit amount for the traffic they want to achieve. This amount remains for free spending.
  • Users will be able to activate add-ons for roaming, by calling the call center and going to an m:tel office, as well as by calling the Key Account Manager for Business Users.
  • m:roaming Serbia can be activated by sending a tiketx message to 14555 (where x is the offer number: 3 – for the 15-day ticket and 4 – for the Prva klasa ticket), as well as by calling the Customer Service and at m:tel offices.

All resources purchased through the service, except m:roaming tickets, do not apply in roaming.

*Note: the benefits from the activated m:roaming promotion (unlimited outgoing minutes and unlimited SMS messages to the network of Telekom Srbija) do not apply to numbers from Serbia ported to the network of Telekom Srbija.

*Fair usage policy is applied: during the term of the selected option, you will have a certain number of minutes, SMSs and MBs at your disposal.
